The basic problem of homelessness is the need for personal shelter, warmth and safety. Reasons for this crisis may be loss or reduction of job income or benefits, being asked to leave a shared residence, being released from jail, prison or a mental health facility, household break-up or death in the family, eviction, domestic violence, substance use & mental illness.
